Nature Club Community Education

Ecosystem Impact is passionate about education. Through our connections with the community, we have identified from local children to learn the English language and have access to additional STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education. Mahi-Mahi is in a position to be able to provide these learning opportunities.

Mahi-Mahi Resort’s weekly Nature Club (Sekolah Alam in Indonesian), allows children of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in conservation activities and practice their Indonesian and English language skills. We invite local students, as well as visiting children, to engage in activities relating to nature. For younger kids we storytelling, puppet shows, arts and crafts, which are all done with a central conservation based theme.

Ecosystem Impact hosts groups of 8-20 students of all ages from around the world. We can work with you to design a bespoke programme linked to our sustainability initiatives.

Sustainability leaders’ scholarship programme

  • Supporting young women from the community to attend teaching degree courses at Sinabang University, Simeulues University.

  • Supporting women to visit examples of sustainability education centres across Indonesia, such as Bali’s Green School.

As part of your program with us, we welcome you to join in with the planning and running of our Nature Club classes. Running on Fridays and Saturdays between 15:00 – 16:00, we will spend the mornings preparing a lesson plan. An incredibly rewarding experience, one really feels like you are giving back to the community. The local children enjoy learning and are always lively and friendly; very often the experience is one where both parties learn a great deal, as these sessions provide the perfect environment for you to practice your Bahasa Indonesia and experience the local culture.
